When he was a teenager, his older brother worked at a local Harley-Davidson dealership. his life in motorcycles began when he started sitting on the bikes, then progressed to kick-starting them... and finally, when he was about 14, got up the nerve to ride around in low gear.

Bill Tuman - Born in Rockford, Ill., on Aug. 3, 1921, Bill didn't even begin racing until his mid twentys. While living in San Francisco during WWII he was building race bikes out of the famous Hap Jones race shop.

Ernie Beckman - Born on May 31, 1923, in Battle Creek, Michigan, at his own admission his big mouth got him his start in racing... he was one of the most consistent performers on the national circuit in the early 1950s.
